All Things Books

Everyone should romanticize their life, we have a short lifespan on this floating rock that we call home - make it fun. So when I decided to make a website for my art, I thought why not add a page dedicated to books, one of my favorite things to talk about. I love books, I love reading, I love getting lost in other worlds and living thousands of lives. I'm a more creative person, more empathetic and understanding. I'm better at writing and putting my own thoughts together. I've learned about more different cultures and history than I did in many years of schooling. And so much more. All because of reading.

I plan to use this page as a way to document my thoughts on books that I'm reading, what I'm loving, learning, questions I have, reviews as I finish them. To document events that I go to such as author Q&As or midnight premieres. Everything and anything book related. Whether this becomes just a digital keepsake for myself or others actually come here to connect over a shared love of reading, it's a win either way.

Current Ongoing Series

Dungeon Crawler Carl (Books 1-5) by Matt Dinniman

Ready Player One meets Hunger Games meets Intergalactic game show meets A plethora of fantasy tropes you love - and that doesn't even begin to sum up the wild ride you will take throughout these books. I remember being in awe of the creativity of the story in the first book and I still feel just as giddy and wowed five books in. Your favorite character will quickly become a talking persian cat, Princess Donut, who shoots missiles out of her eyes. You'll contemplate what you'd do if faced with an end-of-the-world-as-we-know-it apocalypse. You'll laugh at the witty AI system and its desire to constantly poke fun at Carl. You'll never know what's coming next. I never want this series to end.

The Adventures of Amina Al-Sirafi (Books 1 & 2) by Shannon Chakraborty

I just finished book two of this pirate adventure trilogy, sadly the third is not out yet. A strong willed female captain, a mistress of poisons, demons, rich in history and culture, magical artifacts, and plenty of high seas adventures. It's a world that's easy to get lost in. I love the traditional tropes as much as the next person, don't get me wrong. The barely of age girl who is tasked with saving the universe from an untouchable god, who happens to fall in love with the 500 year old Fae King (we'll ignore the age difference for now) along the way. It hits every time. But there is something so refreshing about a main character who is a woman that is aged, well-traveled, and calloused. Beyond her "prime" but continued to build a life for herself. Making mistakes but always trying her best along. It's exactly the type of character I want to read about. I can't wait to see what happens next.
